Waubonsee Community College to Host Middle & High School VEX Robotics State Competitions

An exciting weekend of STEM competition is coming to Waubonsee Community College as middle and high school robotics teams from across Illinois compete in the 2026 VEX V5 Robotics Competitions on March 13–14, 2026 at the Sugar Grove Campus.

The event is being organized and hosted by Fox Valley Robotics as part of the official VEX V5 Robotics Competition series. Waubonsee Community College is serving as the location host, welcoming teams and spectators to campus for this high-energy championship event.

On March 13, 2026, middle school teams will compete in the Illinois Vex V5RC Middle School State Championship.

On March 13–14, 2026, high school teams will compete in the Illinois Vex V5RC High School State Championship across a two day event.

These championships culminate from several months of hard work and qualifying competitions with robotic designs, advanced programming, strategic thinking, and teamwork.

Both competitions will take place in Waubonsee’s Academic and Professional Center (APC) in Sugar Grove. Teams will compete for trophies and judged awards recognizing excellence in performance, design, programming, and engineering documentation. Each of these state championships will send teams on to the World Championship which will be held in April in St. Louis.

The community is invited to attend — admission is free and open to the public. Families, students, and community members are encouraged to come cheer on these talented young innovators and experience the excitement of competitive robotics firsthand.
