Poet Jacob Saenz: Throwing the Crown - Reading and Discussion

Acclaimed Poet Jacob Saenz’s book, Throwing the Crown, depicts his journey navigating through the complex web of family, Latinx identity, community, masculinity challenged by neighborhood gangs, and life as a bachelor. His writing is wide-eyed and direct. It trembles with vibrancy, urgency, humor, and compassion.

Hear the author read from his work and have a conversation with Waubonsee English faculty member, Dan Portincaso, about the development of his journey as a poet and about the writing craft. This will be followed by a Q & A from the audience.
