This art exhibition features three of Susan Giles’ 3D printed sculptural works that come from her recent studio practice. They draw upon public participation to highlight social connections through performed acts of gesture, which contribute to perception and understanding in ways that words alone cannot. Language becomes sculptural through gestures. When we gesture, our hands bring physical forms into bodily existence to share with others. By physically constructing the moment of recalled experience through material interpretations of gesture, Giles aims to provide the viewer with the opportunity to reflect on the way multiple individuals’ memories are part of the collective experience of public monuments.
